Do you hate getting off a plane and immediately realize that you do not bring the corect clothing for the weather? An airport in Sweden wants to solve this problem. To promote their connections to many international destinations, the Arlanda Airport in Stockholm, built three podiums that simulate different climates around the world in real time. "Climate Portal" uses a combination of temperature, wind simulators and visual signals that replicate the weather.
Time simulators are connected to data in the cloud (no pun intended) and permitien people inside the airport experience time in these places in real time. The pods are equipped with heaters and air conditioners to simulate the temperature and wind simulators and sensors to add to the realism. It's like walking through a door into another world.
Arlanda is doing this for promotional reasons, but could be a practical application here: Preview climate where you go will give you a better idea of what needs to be prepared. If an airport wants to increase their income, it is advisable to install one of these pods through a clothing store.
The three pods of Climate Portal are labeled with Go Hot, Cold and Go Go Big. Go Hot simulates the desert like Dubai, Go Cold recreates the harsh winter conditions and Go Big displays the time in major cities worldwide.
Climate Portal installation will be in the Stockholm Arlanda Airport in late August.
